Special congrats to RESC’s Noah Rutberg, who in his first meet as an 11-12 swimmer broke one of the oldest team records at Regency: the one for 11-12 Boys 50 Backstroke, which had been held by Montgomery County Swim League Hall of Famer Andy Lockman since 1974. Way to go, Noah!

MCSL Coaches Long Course Invitational @ Rockville, 7/8/14

Thunderstorms shortened the MCSL Coaches Long Course Invitational Tuesday evening at Rockville, forcing the cancellation of all but one backstroke event as well as the breaststroke and butterfly races.

Three Regency swimmers managed to complete at least one event before the high winds, pelting rain and lightning ended the meet. Congrats to Hannah Lindsey, who won the MCSL Championship in 15-18 Girls 200 IM with a time (2:21.32) that qualified her to swim in the event at the Speedo Junior Nationals in Irvine, California in three weeks. It was the third straight year that Hannah won the 200 IM in her age group at the Coaches Long Course meet. Also swimming for Regency was Malia Bush, who was 3rd in 11-12 Girls 100 Free — an especially awesome finish for an 11-year-old — and Angelica Hu, who was 8th in 8 & Under Girls 50 Free. Kudos also to the Regency swimmers who qualified for the Coaches Long Course meet, but whose events were swept away by the storm:

**Alison Kaiser — 11-12 Girls 100 Breast

**Michael Kaiser — 8 & Under Boys 50 Fly

**Hannah Lindsey — 15-18 Girls 200 Back

**Thomas Pelletier — 8 & Under Boys 50 Breast

**Haley Phillips — 11-12 Girls 100 Back

**Noah Rutberg — 11-12 Boys 100 Back and 11-12 Boys 100 Fly

Thanks also to the many RESC swimmers who weren’t swimming in the meet, but showed up at the Rockville Swim Center to cheer on their teammates. The foul weather was disappointing, but we’re proud of our swimmers for how they represented Regency Estates!

Lakelands (302) @ RESC (489), 7/12/14

The Sailfish top the Lakelands Lionfish on a record-breaking morning at Regency. Congratulations to RESC’s Noah Rutberg, who lowered his team records in 11-12 Boys 50 Back and 50 Fly, and Alison Kaiser, who broke her own team record in 11-12 Girls 50 Breast. Congrats to Lakelands’ Jacob Lindner, who was the biggest star of the meet, smashing RESC pool records in 12 & Under Boys 100 IM,  and the Free and Fly events for 11-12 Boys. Kudos also to Lakelands’ Brandon Goldstein, who broke the RESC pool record in 15-18 Boys 100 Back, and to Lakelands’ Madeline Mara, who broke the pool record in 11-12 Girls 50 Breast. Look for more records to fall next week, when RESC hosts the Division F Championships!

Division F Championships @ RESC, 7/19/14

The Sailfish battle Wildwood Manor to the end of an exciting season, finishing second to the Wombats in the Divisional meet. Regency ends the 2014 season in 2nd place overall in Division F, and we look forward to moving up to a higher division next year.

Congratulations to RESC’s Hannah Lindsey, who broke a team and/or pool record in each of her four individual swims in the Divisional meet. Hannah took down the RESC team records in 15-18 Girls 100 Free and 50 Fly, which had been held by MCSL Hall of Famer Grace Whiteis for 33 years! Hannah’s time in 50 Fly was also an RESC pool record. She also broke her own pool record in 100 Back and her own team record in 100 IM.

Kudos also to RESC’s Noah Rutberg, who lowered his own team record in 11-12 Boys 50 Back, and to Alison Kaiser, who lowered her own team record in 11-12 Girls 50 Breast by 1/100th of a second.

Three swimmers on other teams broke RESC pool records: Little Falls’ Jill Berger in 9-10 Girls 50 Free, Lakelands’ Madeline Mara in 11-12 Girls 50 Breast, and Little Falls’ James Marder in 9-10 Boys 25 Breast. And Little Falls’ 14 & Under Girls Graduated Relay Team — Jill BergerAnne SlabaughRachel Danegger and Vivian Higgins — broke the pool record in that event.

The final scores in the Divisional meet:

Wildwood Manor — 1,011

Regency Estates — 910

Little Falls — 766

Lakelands — 641

Bannockburn — 585
